Patience can't be acquired overnight.
It is just like building up a muscle.
Every day you need to work on it.

Embracing the Glory - Sunday, April 10, 2011 @ 9:35 PM
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, "Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?" Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to manifest the glory of God that is within us ... And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. ~ Nelson Mendela Labels: quote |

trauma - Sunday, October 31, 2010 @ 1:33 AM
![]() Stanley Ho It doesn't matter how tough we are. Trauma always leads us far. It follows us home. It changes our lives. Trauma messes everybody up. But maybe that's the point - all the pain and the fear and the crap. Maybe going through that is what keeps us moving forward. It's what pushes us. Maybe we have to get a little messed up before we can step up.Labels: quote |

alive - Wednesday, September 8, 2010 @ 1:55 AM
Look, I don't want to wax philosophic, but I will say that ifyou're alive you've got to flap your arms and legs, you've gotto jump around a lot, for life is the very opposite of death, and therefore you must at the very least think noisy and colorfully, or you're not alive.

It goes away - the feeling; that feeling that you have right now. today? That feeling like you can do anything; that clarity? - it goes away. And you go right back to being the coward who can't tell the person you love how you feel.

participator - Sunday, July 18, 2010 @ 4:03 PM
I'm not a voyeur. I'm a participator. I'm gona feel it. I'm gona live it. I'm gona confront it. That's the way I deal with life. And if that means it's really painful, then it's painful. If that means it's incredibly joyful, then it's joyful. I'm gona ride it out.

expectations - Friday, July 16, 2010 @ 3:23 PM
No one believe that their lives will turn out to be just kinda okay. We all think we're going to be great. And from the day we decide to be surgeons, we are filled with expectations - expectations of the trails we will blaze, the people we will help, the difference we will make - great expectations of who we will be, where we will go. And then, we get there.
We all think we're going to be great and we feel a little robbed when our expectations aren't met. But sometimes, our expectations sell us short. Sometimes the expected pales in comparison to the unexpected. You gotta wonder why we cling to our expectations. Because the expected is just what keeps us steady, standing still. The expected is just the beginning. The unexpected is what changes our lives. Grey's Anatomy S3.13 Labels: quote |

Messing Up - Wednesday, July 14, 2010 @ 6:52 PM

close - Monday, July 12, 2010 @ 5:13 PM
At the end of the day, all we really want is to be close to somebody. So this thing where we all keep our distance and pretend not to care for each other - it's usually a load of bull. So we pick and choose who we want to remain close to. And once we've chosen those people, we tend to stick close by. The people who are still with you at the end of the day - those are the ones worth keeping. And sure, sometimes close, can be too close. But sometimes, that invasion of personal space - it can be exactly what you need.

wounds - Friday, July 9, 2010 @ 6:13 AM
Not all wounds are superficial. Most wounds run deeper than we can imagine. You can't see them with the naked eye. And then, there are the wounds that take us by surprise. The trick with any kind of wound or disease is to dig down and find the real source of the injury. And once you've found it, try like hell to heal that sucker.

The path to our destination is not always a straight one. We go down the wrong road, we get lost, we turn back. Maybe it doesn't matter which road we embark on. Maybe what matters is that we embark.
